We wanted to explore the energy flow between humans and their environment to solve problems
Where can we find an abundance of human energy?
Can we utilize this energy in public spaces?
Can we use it to solve problems commonly faced in these spaces?
BUS STOPS
Bus stops are a public space that is accessible to anyone where there are people throughout the day- simply waiting
This human energy can be used to solve the rising problem of air pollution
The choice of redesigning bus stops promotes the use of public transport which in turn also reduces air pollution
Brief
To design a bus stop, which utilizes free energy available around it to sustain its energy needs and purify the air

MEET HOPE
Hope is a self-sustained air purifying bus stop that runs on human potential
It comes in single modular units that can be assembled easily according to the space available
HOW DOES HOPE WORK?
Pulling the handle instantly rewards you with fresh air, this makes HOPE a game-like experience
Pulling the handle winds up the main spring, which turns the gear train
The gear train rotates the shaft of the dynamo that instantly powers the dc motor
Air is sucked in through centrifugal fans which rotate for 10 minutes. The fan provides airflow for 5 minutes and purified air for the next 5 minutes
Instant directed air flow
followed by purification
of air
Easily accessible unit for cleaning and repairs
Our cities are growing at an exponential rate,
this increases the population density and the
human potential
To harness this energy, we need multiple hubs
HOPE IN CONTEXT
SEE HOPE IN ACTION
NOTE
HOPE was created as part of the course 'Techno-Aesthetic Detailing', under the guidance of Mr. Kuntal De, which aimed at understanding the functional aspects of aesthetics in products and services.

If we keep existing ecosystems in mind, we can create products that live and breathe amongst us:
breaking the boundary between man made and natural.
